"Thank You" Flowers

Are you guys sick of seeing flowers yet?  Well, I'm not sick of making them!  I really love making these sweet things.  And who wouldn't love to get them??!  Especially as a "thank you" gift.

I found a cute gable box to match my logo at the Container Store so I packaged them up as a gift. Too bad they only had 3 left.

I know I'd love to get a box of cookies just because. :)

Spring is in the Air

Man, these cookies were FUN to make.  I was asked to make cookies for a neat store in Coldspring, TX called Findings, Etc. I had free reign on design and have been wanting to make some floral cookies for a while now. Not much to say about these; I think they speak for themselves. :)

I was also asked to make some cookies for the staff at Gonzales Day Care.  I kept the spring-time theme going and added some onsies...

Happy spring!

Baby Shower Cuteness

Apparently basketball isn't all that is going on in March...baby showers galore!  In a 45 day period, I will have helped host 5 baby showers (not to mention all the other showers I have made cookies for).

This one is number 2 of 5.  My coworkers and I hosted a work shower for our dear friend, Emily.  I am in love with how the cookies turned out for her baby girl.

This was my first time making birds like this.  I will be doing a tutorial on it very soon.  Super simple!

Who said work showers have to be boring?!  I have some super-crafty friends at work that know how to throw cute showers.  It was fun to be a part of it.   You can see the shower that we put together for Emily's boy here.

My friends, Anita and Lindsay made these crafty accents which helped everything come together.

We are so excited for you Emily & Chase and we can't wait to meet Evie!

You See a Snail; I See a Whale

Cute, right?!  I was asked to make these whale cookies for a baby shower.  I have a whale cookie cutter but the whale on the invite was much different from what I have.

{Excuse the lighting in the photos. All photos in this post were taken with my iphone.}

I picked up this snail cutter in a set from Ikea. {Ikea tends to have some interesting and inexpensive cutters so check them out next time you are there} I actually think this cutter could also pass as a whale with out any modifications but with a little work, I figured I could make this match perfectly.

So first, I had to cut off the bottom of the snail's body to give the whale a more rounded look.  I did that using the bottom part of a circle cutter.  {The circle cutter pictured is part of a set from World Market.  They are double sided with a plain and scalloped circle which makes them double awesome} I also spread curved the top of the snail's head slightly which will be the top of the whale's tail.  Make sense?

To make the water coming out of the top of the whale, I used the top of a wedding dress cuter.  Once you cut out the dress, use the sail cutter for the bottom so that it will fit nicely on top. Simply place it on top of the whale and bake.

Once baked, you can see that they adhere nicely to make one cookie.  :)

Creative with Cutters

I had the dough rolled out and the cookie sheets ready to go when I realized that I had no idea what cutters I was going to use for the Winnie the Pooh cookies.  I looked at their shapes upside down and sideways to determine what I already had that would work.  The creativity came into play for the Pooh, honey pot and Tigger cookies.

To make Pooh and the honey pot, I used a cauldren cutter.  Turned upside down, I lopped off the lip of the cauldren with a circle cutter to keep the bottom of Pooh's face rounded.

Using the same cutter for the honey pot, I lopped off the legs of the cauldren straight across the bottom.

For Tigger, I used a bell cutter upside down.

If you can think outside the cutter, you can create any cookie with what you already have. :)

My Plan A

I have been working full time and making cookies part-time for almost three years.  I have decided to take a HUGE leap of faith to concentrate more on my kids and my cookies.  I honestly never thought this would be possible but I have to make a change before I am declared legally insane and I don't want to give up cookies.  My last day of full time work will be March 22nd. I am so excited and so scared at the same time! I have been at DePelchin Children's Center for 8 years so it will be a very big adjustment for me and my fam.  I get to stay at DePelchin and in child welfare but in a different role. I will be writing home studies on potential foster/adoptive families and facilitating parenting and divorce classes on a contract-type basis.  Eeeeeeekkkk!!!!

When I told my 6 year old, he was so excited!  He gets to be a "walker" for the first time ever.  I can't even imagine being able to pick my kiddo up from school everyday.  This means I will also have my two year old with me here at home while I am shelling out the cookies.  I guess we'll see how that will work. :)

It also means more cookie cuteness for you!!!  I have so many ideas and plans that I can't wait to put in place. I also have so many more things that I am excited to learn about cookie decorating.  A huge thanks to each of you who have ordered cookies from me, followed along on Facebook and stopped by here to check in.  It is because of YOU that I am able to make this my plan A.  XOXO

I can't have a post without cookie pics so here are some from this weekend.  Sweet and simple.
